School holidays - Thrive, don't just Survive!

December is here which means many things:  loads of teacher presents being churned out in Thermomixes everywhere, gingerbread house decorating competitions and kids are home from school!

Some people love school holidays (no lunch boxes!), others hate them (please don't let it rain and mean the children stay inside!).  Regardless of whether you're a lover or a hater, it's a great idea to plan for school holidays and think about how you will keep the momentum you've built in your business continuing while you have the kids at home.

School holidays actually present us with an amazing opportunity - to reach new customers, to promote the Thermomix in a social setting and to create more in the kitchen with our own cooking.  So, what are our tried and tested tips to help you not just survive school holidays - but thrive in them!

Open For Business
School Holidays are no different to the rest of the year - you need to know when you want to work and when you don't.  Even if it's entire weeks, make sure you block your holiday time out in your diary and schedule a "back to Thermomix" date.  Let your Team Leader know when you're in and out of your business, so that they're aware for lead allocation and general support.

January is typically one of our busiest months, so be sure you have Cook Ex timeslots set aside and ready to be booked.  Start booking them now in fact - many customers purchasing in December are keen to nab a January timeslot for their delivery Cook Ex.

Think Outside The Square
Remember that school holidays often present an opportunity to showcase the Thermomix to your network in a more social setting.  Encourage visitors to get hands on and help whip up a sorbet for the kids at a playdate, get kids involved in gingerbread cookies, have the girls over for cocktails and dazzle at BBQs with dips and salads in seconds.  Use these opportunities as "demos by stealth" and invite those curious back to an Open House or Home Cook Ex at your place later in the week.

Get Social Media Savvy
If your Thermie gets a workout over the holidays, let your cooking do double duty for you not just feeding the troops but feeding your newsfeed.  Take photos, share on social what you're cooking and think about sharing the cost & time involved to help your network understand the Thermomix benefit.

Connect with your Customers
Organising a Hamper Swap with your customers is one of the loveliest customer service actions you can take over the festive season.  It will help ensure your customers are getting the most out of their Thermomix, inspiring them with new recipes to try and connecting with others in the community.  Remember the Advocacy Triangle - ensuring your customers are excited and loving their Thermomix can help grow them from conversion to advocacy, increasing your referral business.

Getting Go Getters
During the holidays we often have the chance to tick off little jobs that we've postponed all year.  Often in the last few months of the year we often see the sales steps required for Go Getters getting ticked off quite easily, so the holidays present a great chance to tick off a few more and bring you closer to attaining Go Getter status.  You can consider:-

  • Uploading your 3 recipes to the Recipe Community - let's face it, you're cooking all the time anyway!
  • Attending Find Your Tribe, Flipchart & BYB Booster training - these are running throughout December (and often on Zoom so you don't have to even leave the house!).  Upskilling in December will give you some great new tools to try out in the new year!
  • Inspire someone else!  If you hear friends concerned about the Christmas credit card bill, or school fees in January, share with them what the additional income your consultancy generates means to you and your family
  • Plan your 10 Cook Ex month for January - plot out your Open For Business hours now and start filling them.  Our general tip is book 14 including at least 1 Home Cook Ex, just in case a couple postpone or convert to 1on1s.
Be Present
Everyone needs down time and an opportunity to recharge their batteries.  Having a plan on how you are going to hit the ground running again allows you to take time out without feeling conflicted so once you've mapped out your Open For Business hours, honour them.  Spend family time with your family, absorbed in them and fully present in the moment.  You'll be amazed then at how much easier it is to plug back into your business, energised and ready to change lives again.
